[Let’s make it clear I am not a partisan. I believe the Republican Party is Judas.]
While the Democrat party openly declares evil as good and normal, I loathe their deceit.
Breaking the code:
Tactic #1 A Democrat looks at history through a litany of half-truths to twist history for political gain.
Here is history since 1929 Hoover destroyed America, Roosevelt saved America With flawless policies [first modern Democrat God]John Kennedy Camelot God, Johnson great savior of the poor, Jimmy Carter was called the most intelligent President in history and Bill Clinton 5.7 trillion dollar surplus, and Obama the chosen one saved us from Satan Bush.
This is all propaganda, twisting history and gerrymandering American politics.
Tactic #2 when you don’t want to address something, deflect; especially if it’s true. Example Calvin Coolidge’s policy’s created an economic boom, its irrefutable history and economic theory [not econo- clown Krugman economics]
quickly the Democrat must deflect,"yea but what happened later"! Change the conversation.
Use the "Assault weapon" of defection, rapid fire parrot slogans, used when you have no answer at all.Example, question: what about Obama's deficit spending? Then spray the opponent with 9000 slogans, Bush blew a 5.7 trillion deficit, War for oil, Bush is dumb, Bush lied people died, Bush only went to war because Saddam Hussein tried to kill his father, no wmds,Bush said mission accomplished when the war it wasn’t over, Reagan deficit spent more than anyone, Bush put people in Gitmo against international law, did I say Bush is dumb yet?, Bush 41 lied about raising taxes, this could go on for hours, to what end to divert from having intelligent meaningful conversations that benefit America.
Now that I have given perspective on how I see Democrats, I will make a conclusion based on those 3 tactics. I said Coolidge was one of my favorite Presidents because of his policy’s which were pro-growth and small government . The Partisans response is to cloud Calvin’s successes with Hoover’s failures or perceived Democrat superiority, and to make the obvious point that democrats are superior in managing the economy.
The National Bureau of Economic Research [http://www.nber.org/cycles/] lists 20 “downturns” since 1907, but not all of these were severe) the question is.which party was in power in either the Presidency or Congress in the preceding decade leading up to the downturn.
The Recapitulation tables from the Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives [http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/electionInfo/2006/Table.htm]establishes which party was in control during ever period.
Let’s review the facts of the most severe downturns.
1907-1908 Banking Panic 100% GOP control preceding 8% unemployment.
1920-1921 Post-WWI Depression 70% DEM control.60% DEM congress result 12% unemployment
1923-1924 Recession Dems 80% control congress 50/50 GNP drop -4.1%
1929-1933 Great Depression
GOP control 80% congress 100% GOP preceding Herbert Hoover (R, 1929-1933; in office when recession started) unemployment 25%
1937-1939 Depression Max unemployment 20%.60% GOP preceding 60% GOP congress 20% unemployment
1948-1949 Recession 100% DEM preceding 90% DEM congress 7.9% unemployment
100% DEM preceeding, 80% DEM congress during this time negative 3.2 GNP
DEM 60% control preceding 60% DEM congress
1973-1975 Oil Crisis Recession 9% unemployment
70% DEM control preceding 100% DEM congress
60% GOP preceding 100% DEM control of congress unemployment 11%
80% DEM control preceding 60% DEM control of congress 11% unemployment max
2007-today Credit Crisis Recession 60% GOP preceding 100% GOP congress
Overall since 1907, Republicans have been in power in the Presidency just 43% of the ten-year period prior to a sharp recession/depression, and in Congress 50% of the time.
The data appears to state democrats are in control more often preceding downturns but republican downturns are more severe. This data does not reflect great economic expansions under republican or democrat
Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans hold the high ground when it comes to economic stability. Economic downturns appear to be more common after a decade of Democratic presidential dominance, while they are also more common after a decade of Republican congressional rule. Who one blames for bad times depends on which branch you think is most responsible for the economy.
Right now America is dealing with the sad reality of brainless partisanship, cronyism and self serving factions both from Left and Right ,lies abound.
Do Democrats and weak Republicans actually believe what JFK said "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country" I say absolutely not, which means America is finished!
